About Us
We started the family business, Homestead Structures LLC, in 2003 as a sideline to our dairy farm in order to support our family and others in the community. It seemed a natural, though not easy, move for us since we had years of experience working on structures for our own property and others in our community. We never anticipated the business taking off as it has and how much of a need there was in Central PA and beyond for well-made, aesthetically-pleasing sheds, garages, pool houses, pavilions, and other secondary structures.
Steve (our owner) and Martha were married in 1990, and their first son was born a year later. Their ninth and youngest child, Malinda, was born in 2010. One daughter is married to Steven Lapp, of Homestead's sales team, while two were teachers at a 1-room Amish school house. The youngest is the assistant house manager and gardener when not attending school. Their oldest son Melvin is the sales manager at Homestead, while their second oldest, Eli, is the HR manager. Their third son, Daniel, works in the shop as a custom structure builder, and Stephen Jr., their youngest son, helps where needed when not in school. He's also the farm manager.
Homestead Structures continues to expand our handcrafted product offerings as we grow our team of seasoned craftsmen. All of our employees live in the community and many walk to work. The shop opens by 6:00 AM, and we get right to work. We close up around 5:00 PM, allowing our team to get home and spend time with their families as the sun goes down over the valley.
Mission
Our mission at Homestead Structures is to provide families with quality and distinctive structures that fulfill their personal needs both functionally and inspirationally. In addition to providing extra storage or areas for entertainment, our structures give our customers a place to build relationships, strengthen ties, simplify yet enrich their lives, and magnify a sense of peace and joy in their home.
We strive to run a profitable, God-honoring business, so that we can continue to provide individuals with safe and rewarding job opportunities to earn a living, strengthen relationships, and serve their fellow man in the community and across the nation.
Vision
Our vision is to grow a sustainable business in a God-honoring way, to provide more job opportunities, and help each employee to grow in wisdom and knowledge, while at the same time providing customers with a perfectly suited structure.
